Machu Picchu

One of our many goosebump moments… Walkting through the Sun Gate and see Machu Picchu for the first time: WE MADE IT!!! It’s just breathtaking and still unbelievable how the Incas built this incredible city. We’re lucky the sun is out, so we can see it in all its glory. Super happy to be here, we enjoy the view, take as many photos as we can and prepare ourselves for the last few steps of the trail. This has been an incredible journey with the most awesome destination: Machu Picchu baby… Machu Picchu!!!

After our ‘we are heroes’ photo session we take the bus down to Aguas Calientes. This town is named after the nearby hot springs (and not because you can have a hot shower after 3 days…) and is known as Machu Picchu Pueblo. We can relax for a bit and go out to dinner to celebrate this experience with our group. Although, we have to behave as we will go to Machu Picchu again tomorrow morning at 5:00am (!!) Then, our guide Cliser will give us a full tour on the premises and tells us all about this magical place. In the afternoon we’re free to walk around ourselves, before we take the train back to Ollantaytambo. Inca Trail, over & out…
